Camping Family!

Okay, we love CAR camping. I am not sure how well we'd fare in the backwoods. We went to Charlottesville this weekend for a family weekend camping trip. We only went for one night, because we wanted to see how Zoey did (This was actually her second time camping - her first was when she was 5 months old for Youth conference. It got down to 32 degrees F that night. Luckily our tent made it feel more like 50. Still pretty cold for a 5 month old baby).

We camped at the KOA there. Zoey loved eating all of the leaves and sticks. She also loved sucking on marshmallows and looking for bugs. She surprisingly did great! She slept through most the night, and despite the rainy weather, she had fun playing outside. She really liked the tent :)

While in Williamsburg, we visited Michie Tavern for some lunch. For Derek, it is the "Must eat" place of Charolettesville. I think we were the only people there under 60.

Charlottesville has an amazing outdoor mall with tons of great stores. We found this awesome game at a little toy store there. It is called fast track. We played it all night. Zoey loved the chalk wall... mostly eating the chalk. The best part of the mall was the bookfair event they had going on. They were giving all the kids free books. Zoey got 4 new books - and she reads them CONSTANTLY. I love that she loves books.

Our favorite part of the trip was going to the apple orchard! They had amazing cider and Zoey picked her first apple :) It was an orchard up on a hill with a beautiful view!

Overall, it was a great little family getaway. Zoey loved the camping and we had a blast. We will have to do it again soon!!
